Installation (Windows)
- Save the following 3 files into the directory C:\Program Files\w2m
- w2assoc.bat
- w2launch.bat
- w2mClient.jar
- Run w2assoc.bat to set up the file associations.
- Now you can click
on the
run icons:
to launch the client from your web browser
when browsing the Minds on this site.
This will run the Mind in the World.
Installation (other)
- Save this file:
- w2mClient.jar
- Double-click to launch the client.
Details
- w2assoc.bat sets up file associations
so that clicking on a .w2m
or .wwm file
launches
w2launch.bat
(which launches the Java client).
- The .w2m
or .wwm files
are small text files containing the name of the mind,
name of world, and number of steps to run for.
- The run icons:
beside each Mind on this site
generate .w2m
or .wwm files for launching.
So click on the icon and the client launches.
Troubleshooting
- You need the
Java Runtime Environment
installed.
This should be already installed with your Web browser.
- If your browser tries to re-name w2mClient.jar
to w2mClient.zip
just re-name it back to w2mClient.jar
- If you cannot
change file associations on your machine
(e.g. because of security)
you can just double-click to run the client,
and enter Mind and World names manually.
- If you cannot
install in the directory C:\Program Files\w2m
(e.g. because of security)
you can install somewhere else, and then edit the 2 batch files
and change the
"w2mdir" variable.
- Your version of Windows and security settings may not allow
w2assoc.bat
to set up the file associations.
If this is the case:
- You need to get .w2m and .wwm files launched with
w2launch.bat
- Here are two sample files to make this easier:
- sample.w2m
- sample.wwm
- Save these to disk, then something like:
- Right-click - Properties - Opens with - Change - Browse - select
w2launch.bat
- Always use the selected program
